ABOUT GLASSCANDY
GlassCandy was started in 2015 to bring a little bit of glass art into everyone's home. The emphasis is on producing organic forms and not sculpting pieces that look like they have been perfectly made by a machine - the undulating curves and non symmetrical facets draws parallels to the fact that we as humans are all different, even within our own bodies. Nothing is exactly the same and it is in these 'imperfections' that we have reason to celebrate! It makes us who we are and no two people (like snowflakes or leaves) are completely identical.
Each piece of glass art from GlassCandy is lovingly handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, so you will own something uniquely special that no one else has! Created from clear molten glass with coloured glass applied using various techniques, each colour is carefully selected and some techniques could take hours of prior preparation.
If there is a piece that you really love which has been sold, a similar one can be made especially for you but it will not be exactly the same as the other - the aim is to keep each piece a limited edition.
GlassCandy can also bring pieces to the comfort of your home for a small show, so if you would like to host a glass party for your friends, please get in contact. Using this model of a trunk show/tupperware party from inception, GlassCandy has had shows in London, New York, Berlin, Frankfurt, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne and the beautifully delicious wine region of McLaren Vale in Australia. None of these would have been possible without the generosity and love of great friends, so thank you!
If you would like to make a purchase, set up a private viewing or have any questions, please email me or send a message in the form below. You can also sign up to GlassCandy's mailing list to be kept up to date with new collections, up coming shows or announcements.
Commissions are welcome!
Who is GlassCandy :
Quitting a corporate desk job in shipbroking to follow the calling of expression through art, Candice Wu first had a taste of the hot shop in 2009 and immediately fell in love. However blowing glass as a weekend hobby did not afford the time required to play and experiment with this mesmerising medium, and working with fluid hot glass proved rather addictive. With a Honours degree in Visual Communications, specialising in photography and computer design, the appreciation for form and function deepened, and consequently a desire to go into illumination design by working with glass.
Based in West Sussex and working out of Adam Aaronson Glass Studio in Surrey, work by GlassCandy can only be viewed by prior arrangement as it is not currently available in any retail outlets except Etsy. Check out GlassCandyArt on the link below:
