CHANDELERIOUS
The lovely Emma came to my first show in London 2016 and 6 months later, asked if I would be able to make a centrepiece above her dining table for her newly renovated flat in an ex.piano factory conversion.
I wanted to create something to reflect this wonderfully warm and loving family, and to celebrate each family member, planned to have 5 globes - one to represent each individual.
Having been briefed by Patrick at Southstudio who was the architect behind the conversion of the apartment, I made a huge variety of small samples in grey and white which I then took to the family for their feedback. They chose their favourites and I set about making them up to size.
Although I could make the smaller globes by myself, I required the assistance of Adam Aaronson and the team, Gina and Will, to make the larger ones, and Eddie to cut and drill.
Over a few sessions, there were many made and from these, 12 globes ranging from 20-40cm were chosen to be presented.
It was a delightful evening of glass globe dancing with the family as we each held one globe in a cluster and tried to find the best placement! The final decision was to have 7 in total as they loved so many of them.
Gratitude to Emma & Matty for the opportunity to have had such a wonderful experience! X
